Introduction

How sustainable is 3D printing today? This document examines how we can use our 3d printers in a sustainable way. 3D printers are being sold more and more and they have grown in popularity. The only question is how often are the printers actually used? How can a 3d printer be used differently today. This problem is being looked at from different points of view. How do we ensure that a product circulates properly and does not disappear in the kilns? Can communities contribute to the use of 3D printers and what does Airbnb have to do with 3D printing? Can't other people also enjoy the same product? This document will take you through these different issues and help you find out what the solution to the problem is.

Problem statement

This project is devoted to the problems of sustainable use of 3D printers. 3D printers are super handy tools that allow you to print everyday 3D models. It is a fantastic technique that can lead to great innovations. Today 3D printers have become more popular, Worldwide, 20.1% more printers were sold in 2020 than in all previous years, with the main reason that we have started working more at home due to the corona pandemic (Grand view research, 2022).

From response of various experts Interviews (Olivier Oskamp from Makerslab, Paul van eenennaam student in product design and 3D print owner) research with students Product design and various 3D print enthusiast, it can be concluded that the use of 3D printing today is way in-efficient because precisely the way how we use 3D printing today.

How often are those 3D printers actually used? Are you still benefit if you buy a 3D printer that you only use for a few times?

On various platforms where 3D print enthusiasts come together, it appears that a 3d printer bites dust more often than it can really do a job and that is a shame because on the other hand you see that there is enough demand of people who would like to print 3D but find it a a waste of money to buy a 3D printer especially for just a single print.
